The current president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, will seek re-election next year for the period 2025-2029.
His party, National Democratic Action (ADN), chose him last Friday as its candidate for next year’s elections in a meeting held in Quito, the country’s capital.
“Unanimously and with the presence of the ruler, the leadership of the ruling political movement appointed Noboa, 36, to participate in the elections accompanied, for the vice presidency, by María José Pinto, his current secretary of the Grow Without Child Malnutrition program.”
Both officials signed “the certificate of acceptance of candidatures” amid cheers from their supporters at the meeting, where Noboa noted: “This is the beginning of a greater transformation.”
It is important to highlight that Noboa leads the voting intention with 32 %. He is followed by former minister Gustavo Jalkh with 15 % and indigenous leader Leonidas Iza with 4 %, according to data from a survey by the private company Comunicaliza at the end of July.
Noboa’s party, ADN, also nominated its “candidates for the National Assembly and the Andean Parliament ahead of the elections scheduled for Sunday, February 9, 2025.”
