YouCare: the shirt that could help save lives

The project uses revolutionary textile devices without metallic components and with sensors capable of detecting biovital parameters of the individual and transmitting them through 5G technology

The new and revolutionary project of the telecommunications company ZTE is a remote health motorization service, based on wearable technology, totally textile, washable and easy to use. It is called YouCare, a shirt that can save lives using 5G technology.

This innovation is capable of detecting a large number of biovital parameters of the individual and transmitting them through smart mechanisms. It is based on the use of revolutionary textile devices, without metallic components and with sensors that are naturally crimped into the fabric.

YouCare is capable of “detecting biovital parameters, such as a real electrocardiogram, an analysis of the respiratory dynamics, sweat, muscle effort and body temperature, which have never been detected by textile sensors.”

The information is sent to a “miniaturized control unit that records the data, converts it into digital format and, finally sends it – thanks to 5G – to a bidirectional platform that transmits it to the user’s smartphone or smartwatch, as well as to a remote unit that analyzes the values with the medical software”.

For the president of the Red Cross and the IFRC, Francisco Rocca, “it is an invention that will change the life and quality of home and remote medical care for many citizens who experience health problems and vulnerable people suffering from chronic diseases, guaranteeing accessibility to care services and the support of our national and international network.”

For its part, the telecommunications provider considers that 5G technology is the key to improving people’s quality of life, which is why it will begin the YouCare 5G trials at the Center for Innovation and Research, located in L’Aquila, Italy.
