WhatsApp will mute groups with many participants

The instant messaging platform included in version 2.22.24.15 the automatic muting of groups

WhatsApp began rolling out the ability to automatically mute group conversations when they exceed a certain number of participants, with the aim of reducing noise in them.

The technology company activated Communities at the beginning of the month, a novelty that was accompanied by an update for groups, which now support up to 1,024 participants.

Being able to be so massive, the notifications of the actions of the members of a group conversation can generate too much noise, and not make it easy to follow what is in it. For this reason, WhatsApp is working on the function that will allow it to be silenced.

The novelty, on which the company has been working for some time, began to be distributed in version 2.22.24.15 of the Android application, within the Google Play Beta program, as reported by the specialized media.

In different shared captures, a message appears that warns that “the group has more than 256 participants was automatically muted to help reduce notifications“. That is, large groups will be automatically muted when they have numerous participants.
