WhatsApp will allow screen block in web version

The messaging platform is testing a new functionality in its beta version that will protect the privacy of chats

WhatsApp implemented the screen lock option for its Web beta version, with which it intends to facilitate the protection of user conversations, limiting their access through a password.

The instant messaging platform continues to introduce features focused on security and privacy to improve the user experience. In this case, it is a function that is already available in the version of the app for smartphones since May and that tries to limit access to the platform’s chats.

Now, WhatsApp also added to its beta version of the app on the Web the screen lock system, with which, in order to access the chats, the user must enter a password.

In this sense, when activating the screen lock function, access to the conversations is blocked by an interface in which you are asked to enter the correct password. Once entered, the user can navigate through the different chats.

In addition, according to the same means, the user can also configure when the screen lock password must be requested, defining a time interval. Another feature of this feature is that when it is enabled, push notifications do not appear on the screen.

If you forget the configured password, simply log out of WhatsApp Web and log in again, repeating the QR code scanning process.
