WhatsApp is working on a secret code to access blocked chats

The messaging platform WhatsApp is working on a code that will allow access to chats that have been blocked from a linked device

The chats that WhatsApp allows you to protect behind a password or biometric data will have a third option, a secret code to locate blocked conversations that will also be compatible with secondary devices linked to an account.

In May, the technology company presented the function called ‘chat blocking’, designed to protect conversations selected by the user with a password or biometrics (easy recognition or fingerprint).

So, you already anticipated some of the work that would come for this privacy feature, such as the ability to block conversations on linked devices and create a custom password so that it is different from the one the user uses on the phone.

A novelty for blocking chats is the secret code, as discovered by the specialized portal Wabetainfo in the beta of the Android application (v 2.23.21.9).

The user can use a word or an emoji to create this secret code, which will allow them to search for blocked conversations from the search bar or access this item from a secondary device where the WhatsApp account has been linked.

The ‘chat lock’ feature is activated from a chat’s information and will cause the conversation to be moved to a dedicated folder. It should not be confused with the option to block contact, which prevents communication with the latter.
