Walmart’s net profit in Mexico and Central America grew 48.3% in the first nine months of the year, to almost $ 1.5 billion, according to the company’s quarterly accounts report.
Compared to the previous year, the subsidiary’s sales grew 3.1%. For its part, the gross operating profit (Ebitda) rose 8.7% to 2,600 million dollars.
During the third quarter, the group opened 31 new stores in the region, 28 in Mexico and 3 in Central America. With the new openings, Walmart’s total sales area in the region amounts to 7.29 million square meters.
Between July and September, the company’s sales grew 6.4%, to almost 8,000 million dollars; while the net profit rose to 500 million dollars, 20.5% more.
