Video games relieve stress and connect people

A study revealed the benefits of video games, due to the social and emotional benefits

Video games are entertainment content that provides hours of fun, but players also experience a series of social and emotional benefits, helping them relieve stress, improve creativity, and even connect with other people.

Having fun is the main reason why people play video games (69% of players globally), as stated in the Power of Play study, published by the Spanish Video Game Association (AEVI) in collaboration with the Entertainment Software Association of America (ESA) and Video Games Europe.

But respondents (12,847 active players globally) also pointed out other reasons, such as for entertainment (63 %) or to reduce stress (55 %). In the twelve countries in which the study was carried out, 71 % of participants stated that playing video games helps them feel less stressed.

Players also report gaining valuable life skills applicable outside the virtual world of video games. For example, 64% of Spanish gamers believe that they can improve problem-solving, mathematics, technology, science and engineering skills.
