Venezuela will participate as an observer in the next BRICS summit in October

The Venezuelan ambassador in Moscow, Jesús Salazar Velásquez, confirmed the country's participation as an observer in the next BRICS summit, to be held in October in the Russian city of Kazan

Venezuela received an invitation from the BRICS to participate as an observer in the group’s next summit in October, in the Russian city of Kazan.

The information was released by the Venezuelan ambassador in Moscow, Jesús Salazar Velásquez, who stated that they have not only been invited to participate in said summit by the Russian Federation, but to be present in all activities.

Venezuela is a candidate country to join the BRICS group, which seeks benefits for all members in a coalition for the de-dollarization of their respective economies.

Regarding the possibility of becoming part of this group, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil noted in June during the meeting of BRICS+ foreign ministers that the country has made positive progress in this regard.

In any case, we must wait to hear a decision on Venezuela’s request to be part of the BRICS, which is expected to be issued during the next summit in October.
