Venezuela has reactivated oil wells in the La Ceiba sector of Trujillo state, in the western part of the country, starting with the Ceiba 15 well, which could reach a production of two thousand barrels per day of 21 API light crude.
According to Bernardo Rausseo, permanent advisor to the National Federation of Hydrocarbon Business Associations (Fenegas), the operation is intended to strengthen the sector in the country, stating that “this initiative is part of the efforts of the state-owned PDVSA to recover production in the western basin.”
The work includes “technical procedures such as detonations and perforating, designed to clean and open flow channels in wells that have remained inactive for years.”
La Ceiba is the first step in the goal of revitalizing the oil wealth of Trujillo state. Rausseo also emphasized that “these types of operations not only allow for the immediate recovery of production, but also serve to evaluate the total potential of the field, located in the southern part of Lake Trujillo, under the executive management of PDVSA West.”
