US Secretary of Labor will leave his post in March

Marty Walsh announced that he will step down as Secretary of Labor to assume the executive leadership of the National Hockey League Players Association

The United States Secretary of Labor, Marty Walsh, resigned from his position and announced that he will leave the Administration of President Joe Biden next March to assume the executive direction of the National Hockey League Players Association.

Thus, Walsh will become the first minister in Biden’s Cabinet to leave his post since the start of his term. “Earlier this week I met with the president and he accepted that my time as secretary ends in mid-March,” he said in a message on his Twitter account.

“As a union member, serving as Secretary of Labor in the administration that most defended workers has been an immense privilege,” he said before highlighting the work of “his co-worker, Assistant Secretary Julie Su,” who could take his place.

In addition, he has qualified that he leaves the Department with “confidence that the promise of resilience for our country is fulfilled now more than ever.”
