TSJ orders that miners be registered on Sunacrip

Through ruling No. 099 of the Political-Administrative Chamber, it was decreed that individuals and companies must register their equipment on Sunacrip

In ruling No. 099 of the Political-Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), it was ruled that individuals and companies that own or carry out bitcoin mining activities in the country must register with the Superintendence of Cryptoactives and Related Activities from Venezuela (Sunacrip).

This action is a response to the request of the digital assets agency, regarding an injunction granted by the First National Court, in which it favored a bitcoin (BTC) mining company and whose equipment was confiscated in 2021.

According to the media, the company involved would be the trading company Sierramoros C.A, which went through an inspection process in its two cryptocurrency mining farms.

In ruling No. 099, the TSJ reaffirms Sunacrip as the sole governing body for activities related to cryptocurrencies in Venezuela. Therefore, it is also established that those who wish to mine bitcoins must be registered in the Comprehensive Registry of Cryptoactive Services (Risec).

In addition, they must comply with the requirements and precautions established in the Integral Registry of Miners (RIM). In case of not having this, Sunacrip can seize the digital mining equipment, as established by the Constituent Decree of the Comprehensive Cryptoactive System.
