Tor Project received nearly a million dollars in donations

During 2020, the organization in charge of carrying out the operation of the browser claimed to have received this amount through cryptocurrencies

The team in charge of developing and maintaining the Tor web service announced that during 2020 they received almost a million dollars in donations, most of them through cryptocurrency.

In the announcement of Tor Project, it was detailed that the income in digital assets was 233,019 dollars, which represents 26% of the total of 913,119 dollars.

Tor accepts cryptocurrencies through BTCPayServer, a payment server that processes project donations in cryptocurrencies such as ether, zcash, dash, litecoin, stellar, bitcoin cash, among others such as, of course, bitcoin.

The total amount of the donations in cryptocurrencies was not disclosed, as well as their price within the digital market.

Tor notes that compared to the 2019 year-end campaign, an additional $ 23,000 worth of crypto was collected in 2020 from individual users.
