The United States studies stricter regulations on social networks

United States congressmen, together with the FBI, could establish new rules on the use of social networks, after the ban on the use of TikTok in government offices

The authorities of the United States are analyzing possible stricter regulations on the use of social networks, after the ban on TikTok on the phones of employees of government agencies.

Various congressmen and the FBI are studying the background of the TikTok platform and its handling of user data, illegal surveillance techniques using the IP address of the devices, among other risks for the population.

Christopher Wray, head of the FBI, has recently been very concerned and alert regarding the Chinese social network TikTok, and has defended the blockade in various states of the country, arguing that it should be extended to the entire United States.

The use of very similar algorithms to handle data from the TikTok, Twitter and YouTube networks, for example, increases suspicion on the part of the US authorities.

Some congressmen believe, in the particular case of TikTok, that its use is highly risky for citizens. Hence, the recent push to discuss new, stricter rules regarding the use of social networks in the United States, especially by children and young people.
