The president of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP in Spanish), Giuseppe Palmisano, announced that Venezuela will host the 2026 Caribbean Series, after an exchange agreement with Puerto Rico, which will take the turn of host that corresponded to the country in the year 2029.
“The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation has given permission to the Venezuelan league, in a conversation that was had with the sister league of Puerto Rico, for the 2026 Caribbean Series to be held in Venezuela,” Palmisano said in a conference press.
The president assured that Venezuela is not going to “be left behind” in terms of the participation of “luxury guests” in this edition, although he preferred not to mention any team for the moment. “We are managing with countries other than those that have already been here,” he said.
Regarding the venues in which the tournament will be played, Palmisano explained that the main one will once again be the “Simón Bolívar” Monumental Stadium of Caracas, inaugurated in the 2023 Caribbean Series, with capacity for 40,000 people.
At the same time, the LVBP registered the Forum Stadium in La Guaira, located in front of the Caribbean Sea, and the Universitario de Caracas as alternate venues.
For his part, the Venezuelan Minister of Sports, Mervin Maldonado, said that the State will provide all support in the organization of this competition, with the aim of surpassing the attendance record established in the most recent edition of the series, held in Miami. .
Venezuela is the current champion of the Caribbean, after the Tiburones de la Guaira defeated the Tigres del Licey of the Dominican Republic.
