Sunaval warns of electronic fraud threats via social networks and messaging

The National Securities Superintendency (Sunaval) issued an alert regarding electronic fraud threats via social networks and instant messaging, targeting stock market participants and the general public

The National Securities Superintendency (Sunaval) of Venezuela alerted the public and stock market participants about electronic fraud threats carried out through social networks and messaging.

The local agency recommended that potential victims “verify the list of authorized entities on its official website to avoid scams in the stock market sector” in order to prevent potential cybercrimes via WhatsApp or Telegram.

As Sunaval indicated on its Instagram account, these illicit acts are carried out by “individuals not authorized by the National Securities Superintendency,” through the promotion of deceptive schemes on digital platforms, which represents a risk to users’ assets.

It also emphasized that all information regarding duly authorized public securities brokers, securities brokerage firms, stock exchanges, agricultural commodity brokers, agricultural brokerage firms, agricultural commodity exchanges, agricultural commodity and input exchanges, issuing companies, and investment advisors is available only on the Sunaval website.
