Sony shows internal details of the next-gen console PS5

The vice president of the Mechanical Design department, Yasuhiro Ootori, showed the components of the game console in a video

Sony Interative Entertainment (SIE) published a video in which the company disassembles and shows the integration of the technology of its next generation console PlayStation 5 (PS5), which will be launched on November 12.

The vice president of the Mechanical Design department within SIE’s Hardware Design division, Yasuhiro Ootori, is in charge of showing the interior of the PlayStation 5. Specifically, he shows the model with a disk drive.

The console dimensions will be 104 millimeters wide, 390 millimeters high, and 260 millimeters deep, making it larger than its predecessor, the PlayStation 4. However, Ootori states in the video that this “translates into a incredible improvement in performance in terms of processing power and silence. “

The PlayStatoin 5 has two USB ports, one Type C and one Type A, on the front, which are compatible with Hi-Speed USB. In the case of the USB Type-C port, you can transfer data at a speed of 10Gbps.

For its part, at the rear, the console includes two other USB type A ports that can also transfer data at a speed of 10 Gbps, a LAN port, an HDMI port and a power port.

Also, Ootori shows how users can choose between placing the console vertically or horizontally, since it is possible to change the place where the base is located, which includes a space to store the removed screws.

Users will also be able to remove the white panels on the sides of the console by lifting one of the corners and sliding it.

By removing these panels, you can see where the PlayStation 5 fan is located. The console will have a double fan 120 millimeters in diameter and 45 millimeters thick.

The console also includes a dedicated port for future storage expansion, featuring a PCIe 4.0-compliant M.2 interface.
