Putin was re-elected for a new presidential term

Vladimir Putin won the presidential elections in Russia and thanked the people for their trust in the process

Putin proclaimed himself the winner of the presidential elections in Russia this weekend, a process that began on Friday, March 15, and ended on Sunday, March 17.

Putin won 87.21 % of the votes; Second place went to Nikolai Kharitonov of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, with 4.19 %. Then there are Vladislav Davankov of the New People party with 4.04 % and Leonid Slutski of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia with 3.14 %.

Images of great calm and civility were spread about the electoral process. The president re-elected for a new six-year term thanked the people for their trust, while, on the other hand, he mentioned the natural nature of the adverse or contrary reaction from Western governments.

In his speech he spoke to citizens about aspects such as the call to all sectors to vote, which was accepted even by opponents, although he regretted events where opponents of his party had damaged the electoral ballots.
