Peru leads the list of eCommerce developing countries
A study carried out by Euromonitor International showed the potential that Peru has in terms of digital growth
A study carried out by Euromonitor International determined that Peru ranks as one of the Latin American countries with the greatest potential in terms of the future of eCommerce and online retail.
The panorama of eCommerce development in the region is dominated by Peru with 87 % growth. It is closely followed by Brazil with 61 % and Colombia and Mexico with 53 % and 50 % respectively.
A large part of these expectations is due to the growth of electronic commerce that took place during the pandemic, which was simply a channel of impulse for a current where the digital market was already developing.
Although the Peruvian market already has a solid position in the field of electronic commerce, it is expected to maintain its growth in the future, forecasting an increase of 11 0% by 2025. Thus, it is estimated that eCommerce will expand its participation in the market of the retail by 10 % to 20 %, during this same period.
It is important to highlight that at least 60 % of the country’s population has an Internet connection from different types of devices, this number represents some 19.9 billion users.
Despite this, mobile connections have lost usage, down 5 % from the previous year, according to statistics provided by We Are Social.
