Orange allies with OneWeb to boost connectivity via satellite

A strategic alliance between Orange and the nanosatellite company OneWeb will boost connectivity in remote areas of Europe, Africa and Latin America

Orange has signed an agreement with the nanosatellite company OneWeb to promote connectivity with this technology in remote areas in Europe, Latin America and Africa.

The distribution agreement will allow Orange to integrate the OneWeb service with its corporate clients or other telecommunications operators in different regions of the world, according to a statement from the French group.

The Orange agreement joins the growing framework of alliances between the satellite industry and telecommunications operators, since, for example, Vodafone announced at the Mobile World Congress the launch of different pilot projects this summer to test the services of connectivity of the company AST SpaceMobile in Spain.

For its part, Telefónica has agreements with OneWeb itself and more recently it allied with the Spanish Sateliot to provide IoT 5G connectivity services via satellite by integrating the future network of the company into that of Telefónica Tech.
