New challenges for Peru in oil matters

Oil company in Peru forecasts to produce 20 thousand barrels of oil a day. To do this you must invigorate technical and logistic methods

Oil production again rubs 60 thousand barrels per day (bpd), after several years of dangerous approach to 40 thousand barrels. To this end, the Norperuano Pipeline (ONP) and the efforts of several oil companies, such as CNPC and, especially, Petrotal, have contributed an additional flow of 8,500 bpd of oil in just one year.

Peru’s main challenge, in terms of Gross Domestic Product, is to implement the necessary infrastructure next year, in order to produce 20 thousand bpd in lot 95 in the medium term. For this, the Petrotal oil company plans to invest up to US $ 100 million in 2020, similar to 2019.

For his part, Ronald Egúsquiza, CEO of the company, is careful to point out that the expansion work does not guarantee that the lot produces 20 thousand bpd, that will depend on the technical tests that are being carried out, “One thing is what the wells they can give and other the capacity of the equipment in surface. This year we will end the facilities that will support 10,000 bpd, and next time we will continue to invest to increase the capacity to 20 thousand bpd, ”said Egúsquiza.

The executive says that the project will be successful depending on how the production of oil as well as that of water evolves, a problem that causes many difficulties because the vital liquid must be reinjected under the surface due to technical and environmental considerations.

To date, Petrotal has drilled five wells that produce 60% water and 40% heavy oil. However, to increase its production, the oil company will need heavy investments in transport and logistics infrastructure.
