Meta works on separating Instagram from Threads

The company is looking for a way to delete the Threads account, independently of the other social network

Meta is working on a way for users to delete their Threads account independently from their Instagram account, since at the moment, they work together on both social networks.

The company led by Mark Zukerberg launched this week its new ‘microblogging’ platform, designed to “share ideas and trends with text”, Threads. A social network that reached more than one hundred countries around the world with a design very similar to that of Twitter, in which users can share experiences and opinions based on short text publications.

Although Threads is a social network independent from Instagram, in order to use it, it must be accessed through an existing account on the video and photo platform. This makes it easy to import the user’s profile to this new ‘app’ and the accounts they follow.

However, a few hours after its launch, some users were able to verify that if they want to cancel their account in this new ‘app’, they must delete their Instagram account. Likewise, it is also specified by the company itself in its complementary privacy policy.

In this framework, Meta has begun to look for a way to be able to delete the Threads account independently of Instagram, as pointed out by the director of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, through a publication on Threads.
