Meta Platforms plans to launch four new virtual reality (VR) headsets between now and 2024, including Project Cambria, which is known with new details and is described as “a laptop for the face” aimed at professional use.

In this way, the metaverse is increasingly present on the agenda of technology firms, especially Meta Platforms, whose roadmap was advanced by the American media outlet The Information.

The corporation’s plans go through the launch of four new VR helmets between now and 2024, according to a close source cited by the media. One of them will be Project Cambria, the code name for the helmet that combines virtual and mixed reality.

Meta expected to launch Project Cambria in 2021, but it was postponed until September of this year due to problems with the supply chain caused by the pandemic that are weighing down the sector.

Cambria is described internally at the company as a “laptop for the face” or a Chromebook for the face. Additionally, it will use Meta’s proprietary virtual reality operating system, which is based on Android.
