The McDonald’s fast food chain registered a net profit of 1,516.9 million dollars in the second quarter of 2019, which is equivalent to an increase of 1% compared to the same period of the previous year, as reported by the company.
The turnover between January and June of the creator of the ‘Big Mac’ remained stable at 5,341.3 million dollars. Of that figure, the income from the premises under direct exploitation fell by 7%, to 2,400.4 million dollars, while the income from franchised restaurants advanced by 7%, to 2,940.9 million dollars.
By geographical areas, the turnover of the premises in the United States advanced 2%, up to 2,007.6 million dollars, while the income of the restaurants in the rest of the countries stood at 2,884.3 million dollars, 2% less.
Regarding expenses, the operating costs of McDonald’s owned restaurants decreased by 8%, to $ 1,967.1 million, while expenses by licensed stores rose by 13%, to $ 544.7 million. Sales, general and administrative expenses, contracted 2%, up to 533.1 million dollars.
“With the solid results we have achieved in the second quarter, we have already chained 16 consecutive quarters of comparable sales growth,” explained the president and CEO of the firm, Steve Easterbrook.
In the first six months of 2019, McDonald’s accounted for a cumulative net profit of $ 2,845.3 million, 1% less, after accounting for a 2% decrease in revenues, up to $ 10,296.9 million.
