Iran’s Airline launches first flight Tehran-Caracas

The first flight left this Monday from the International Imam Khomeini Airport. The journey takes approximately 16 hours

On Monday the Iranian airline Mahan Air announced the launching of a direct flight between Tehran and the Venezuelan capital Caracas.

This initiative responds to the relations that Iran maintains with the government of Nicolás Maduro.

According to the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran, the first plane bound for the Venezuelan capital took off on Monday morning from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran with a  journey of 16 hours.

Reza Yafarzadeh, spokesman for said organization, explained through a statement that on this first flight were the director of the Department of Foreign Affairs for America, Mohsen Baharvand, accompanied by a delegation.

Upon arrival in Caracas, Iranian officials will hold meetings with their Venezuelan counterparts on the status and maintenance of the flights.
