Instagram is working on a vertical stories feed

The social network announced that it is testing a new function to allow users to navigate in a different way than usual

Instagram is working on redesigning the Stories ‘feed’ so that instead of horizontal browsing, users do so vertically, in a similar way to how they interact with the content on TikTok.

The vertical feed for Stories is a feature in development, not yet available to the public, as confirmed by an Instagram spokesperson. It has been discovered by developer Alessandro Paluzzi.

Paluzzi explained that he discovered the feature by digging into the code. And he has shared a screenshot in which they see that the application notifies users about the navigation from top to bottom to go from one Story to another.

This ‘feed’ design is similar to the one TikTok has for its short videos, but it is also present in the feed of networks such as Facebook or Twitter or even in the way in which the Internet is surfed.

The spokesperson for Instagram assures that it is “a prototype that is not being tested” on the social network. Currently, users have to swipe left and right to view new Stories.
