Google is working on its virtual reality headset with Gemini

The technology company is preparing a discreetly designed virtual reality headset powered by Gemini AI, which could offer GPS navigation and simultaneous translation

One of Google’s upcoming releases could be its virtual reality headset, with built-in Gemini AI, to provide users with GPS navigation and simultaneous translation.

The prototype was presented during the TED 2025 event in Vancouver by Shahram Izadi, head of mixed reality development at Google, who detailed the new Android XR platform.

Izadi showed the device in action, highlighting “the possibilities offered by the integration with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant.”

The company is working on this innovative product, which, according to analysts, could flood the market in sectors such as video games, entertainment, and job training by 2030.

The launch date for these lenses is not yet known, but details will likely be shared at the upcoming Google I/O event, which will be held on May 20 and 21.
