French retail stores will accept payments in bitcoin by 2020

The cryptocurrency is the only one that will be accepted in French territory as a means of payment through the EasyWallet application and the Easy2Play payment platform

A recent announcement by the French authorities in the field of cryptocurrencies says about 30 retail chains in the European country plan to accept payments in bitcoin from 2020 in more than 25,000 stores.

Customers will have the possibility to cancel their purchases with the bitcoin cryptocurrency early next year thanks to a strategic partnership between the global POS solutions provider, the EasyWallet application and the Easy2Play payment platform.

On the one hand, consumer transactions will be made in this crypto active and on the other, “funds for sellers will be automatically converted to euros at the time of sale.” For financial conversion they will use the services of Deskoin and Savitar, “which are currently requesting accreditation of digital asset service providers” according to the laws of France.

The shops that will start the process are the Decathlon sportswear and Sephora cosmetics stores. They will be joined by brands such as Boulanger, Foot Locker, World House, Intersport, Culture, Maisons du Monde and Norauto.

Stefan Gian, CEO of Global POS, said: “This is an important symbolic step in the development of payment methods in France. I think even more: 25,000 points of sale are an opportunity to safely enter 3.0 economy.”

Gian also ruled on the opening of the French to trade with cryptocurrencies, which has increased in recent months. He said that although bitcoin will be the only cryptocurrency in user cards, in the future the platform will also support altcoins.
