Delcy Rodríguez assumes the interim presidency of Venezuela today

Following the US military action in Venezuela in the early hours of Saturday, January 3, the interim presidency will be assumed this Monday by Delcy Rodríguez

This Monday, January 5, the current Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, will be sworn in as interim president, following the US military incursion in the early hours of Saturday, January 3.

As is known, US President Donald Trump spoke with Rodríguez about initiating a peaceful transition in the South American nation, under the guidance of Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela and the Armed Forces have declared their support for the current vice president, who has held the position since 2018, while continuing to demand the immediate release of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, from the United States.

On the other hand, Vladimir Padrino López, Vice President for Defense and Sovereignty, has called on citizens to gradually resume normal activities in all productive sectors of the country, in order to guarantee normalcy in the coming days.

The appointment of Delcy Rodríguez as interim president coincides with the resumption of work by the National Assembly of Venezuela this Monday, January 5.
