Crypto ATMs return to Japan

After four years of absence, cryptocurrency ATMs are back thanks to Gaia Co. Ltd

Japan will now count again after four years of absence with cryptocurrency ATMs, from the hand of the company Gaia Co., Ltd.

The company announced this week that it will soon activate devices that will accept transactions with bitcoin, ethereum, bitcoin cash and litecoin.

The last time the Asian country had this type of ATM was in 2018, when the Coincheck exchange was hacked for 530 million dollars, which directly affected the local service.

The ATMs will allow users to withdraw a maximum of $747 per transaction, or 100,000 Japanese yen, with a maximum withdrawal limit of 2,243, or 300,000 yen, per day. Limiting withdrawals is part of anti-money laundering compliance measures.
