Caper launches an intelligent shopping cart

The company wants to improve the shopping experience and for this purpose bet on an intelligent shopping cart that knows what the customer is buying

The Caper cart is a kind of assistant that helps the customer in the shopping process in the supermarket. The idea is that the cart automate functions such as paying and at the same time be a useful tool to help the customer in the purchase.

The company has smart carts deployed in two supermarkets, but says it will be in many more chains during 2019.

Obviously, the cart itself is similar to the ones we currently have, but full of sensors and a screen on the top side of the handlebar and right next to it there is a POS to make payments.

Caper will allow customers to pay directly with the cart, it is an ATM. The upper part of the basket has a sensor that scans each product that enters or leaves the basket. Checking its weight also confirms what product it is and how much it is. The system is basically the same as that of an ATM.

At the end of the purchase the user only has to pay what is indicated on the shopping cart screen and can do it directly at the POS that is in each cart by debit / credit card or mobile. At the end, then the purchase is collected.
