The Brazilian government seeks to establish an agreement with Elon Musk to offer internet to remote areas of the Amazon with its Starlink satellite system

Brazil will bring the internet to the Amazon. Fabio Faria, Minister of Communications of Brazil and Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX, analyzed, in the North American city of Austin, an agreement that will allow to provide internet to remote areas of the Amazon with the Starlink satellite system.

According to what was expressed by Faria, in a statement issued by the government entity, the purpose is “to bring internet to rural areas and remote places“, through the Starlink system. It allows access to broadband internet through small antennas that are easily installed in difficult access areas traditional providers cannot reach.

For his part, the US businessman, Elon Musk, assured that they are “eager to be able to provide connectivity to the less connected.”

The Communications Minister also indicated that through this system they will be able to control and monitor the illegal logging and burning of forests in the Amazon region.
