BBVA Switzerland activates the purchase and sale of bitcoins for its clients

The institution became the first European to offer this service in the old continent

The BBVA institution announced that from now on its clients will be able to purchase cryptocurrency custody and purchase services, specifically bitcoin.

The bank, which has been working on this initiative for more than two years, launched this project at its headquarters in Switzerland due to the regulations that operate there today, considered one of the most advanced in Europe.

Switzerland has a very advanced ecosystem in terms of regulation and adoption of digital assets, with numerous companies specializing in blockchain technology, which is adequate to implement these services, said Javier Rubio, head of client solutions and the crypto project from BBVA Switzerland.

These operations will be carried out thanks to the development of blockchain technology, which the bank has carried out during five years of work in different areas such as international payments, corporate financing, among others.

Since the group decided to embark on this service, it has carried out a pilot test with 50 private banking clients of the group from different countries, and after verifying its effectiveness it has decided to launch it with the aim that all the clients of the group in this division can operate through the new platform.
