Artificial Intelligence can be a threat to Spanish

The general director of Telefonica warned that if no action is taken in the future the children could end up talking like Siri or Alexa

Although for many technology is considered a tool of vital importance for the development of humanity, others nevertheless consider it a threat to several areas including language.

This is what has become, according to several experts in the area of technology for Spanish. For the general director of Telefónica, José María Álvarez-Pallete, it is necessary to look for measures to avoid that “our children do not end up talking like Siri or Alexa“.

A study says that today there are more machines equipped with artificial intelligence than people who express themselves in the Spanish language, which is the second most spoken native in the world.

Technology is advancing at an abysmal pace, it is expected that in the coming years the expansion of the IA will be much more decisive than what is appreciated today.

Machines, unlike humans who have 93% ability to understand what is heard, have 96% accuracy for this task in reading comprehension.

Since last year, they have translated more accurately, in addition to winning debate contests, in which not only is it necessary to understand, but to contextualize and argue, Álvarez-Pallete recalled.
