Amazon formalizes the purchase of MGM

The e-commerce giant will pay about 8,450 million dollars for the acquisition of the entertainment company MGM

The e-commerce giant Amazon confirmed the purchase of the entertainment company MGM, after having passed the necessary regulatory processes to carry out the transaction.

According to the media, the company directed by Jeff Bezos will disburse about 8,450 million dollars for the Metro Goldwyn Mayer company.

Although everything seems confirmed, it is still possible that the e-commerce company will be interrupted in the purchase process, and this is due to how difficult the situation can be made by the United States Federal Trade Commission.

Several media stated that an “antitrust lawsuit” could be generated against Amazon, although for this to happen it is necessary that the majority of the members of the Commission vote in favor of this.

Mike Hopkins, Senior Vice President, Prime Video and Amazon Studios, said, “MGM has a nearly century-long legacy of producing exceptional entertainment, and we share its commitment to bringing a wide range of original movies and television series to audiences across the globe everyone”.
