Australia will have driver’s licenses backed by blockchain

The platform was developed by the company Secure Logic, and will be called TrustGrid

On Monday, the government of New South Wales (NSW), Australia, announced that it will implement the use of blockchain technology in a pilot process of digitization of driver’s licenses.

It is planned that this program will start operating for the month of November, where at least 140 thousand owners will benefit from this new platform that would be in optimal operation by 2019.

The company responsible for the development of this platform will be Secure Logic, an Australian firm that indicated that its system will support the initiative to protect data in a distributed manner.

This blockchain network, which will be called TrustGrid, was already tested in the city of Dubbo last year, according to several Australian media.

The aim of the new program is to use a distributed network to authenticate and store driver license data, so that users can present their digital credentials through a mobile application.
