The institution filed the corresponding registration before the USPTO Patent and Trademark Office so that its names and logos cover NFTs and metaverse
The metaverse offers multiple opportunities to reach a wider audience immediately. Taking this potential into account, the University of Alabama, the largest in the state in the US, formalized registration with the Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), so that its names and logos include NFTs and metaverse.
According to information from the UPSTO, on November 9 the educational institution registered to enter the metaverse and launch a series of initiatives that will make downloadable files, videos, NFTs available to those interested.
In addition, the University of Alabama seeks to provide “digital collectibles in the form of player photos, images, and video; games, game footage, game highlights, and virtual experiences on the field of college athletics.”
Disciplines such as baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, gymnastics, rowing, soccer, softball, as well as swimming, diving, tennis, track and field, cross-country and volleyball will be included.
Among the downloadables are “downloadable software type” digital tokens using blockchain technology. But the university has also signed up to offer the services of online retailers for virtual merchandise in the metaverse targeting “buyers and sellers of downloadable digital artwork, text, audio, and video related to collegiate athletics authenticated using non-fungible tokens.” .
This move by the University of Alabama encompasses other key areas in finance, such as financial brokerage services, with a focus on trading downloadable virtual goods and crypto-collectibles, authenticated using non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
