The Government of South Korea announced that it will increase the funds for the nation’s technological development.

Specifically, the current administration decided to take this budget up to 4.4 billion dollars, as outlined by Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon.

“The measures will help facilitate the economy of the platform, which in turn will help accelerate innovative growth. The government will focus on the promotion of big data and AI, developing blockchain technology,” said the minister.

These new funds, which are part of a new plan called “Growth through Innovation“, represent an increase of 65%.

The center of research will be cryptocurrencies and artificial intelligence, although eight other aspects are not ruled out, such as electric cars, cities and smart farms, biotechnology for health and fintech.

The government’s focus on cryptoactives, according to Dong-yeon, is based on the need to guarantee security in the management of data and information, as well as giving a boost to the “collaborative economy”.
