Intel unveils its bitcoin mining chip

This week, developer company Intel officially unveiled its dedicated chip for efficient bitcoin mining, which will henceforth be known as “Bonanza Mine.”
The presentation of this product took place during the “International Solid-State Circuits Conference 2022 (ISSCC)“, a remote event which will be held until February 28, and where various companies are part of talks and presentations.
The Intel team offered more details about its new chip, which indicated that it qualifies as an ASIC device specially designed for mining, whose performance is a thousand times better for this task, having better performance per watt of energy, which translates into a significant savings compared to many other equipment designed for this purpose.
The company also reported that it already has a number of high-profile orders for this new tool, the most prominent being that of Jack Dorsey’s Block.
Although this chip has not yet formally gone on sale beyond the first institutional orders, some reports suggest that Intel could already be working on its new generation of chips. Among these signs is an apparently signed agreement with the Ohio-based company Griid, with which BMZ2 orders are already being considered for this year.
