Reddit joins the trend for short video posts

The platform changed its interface to give more preponderance to audiovisual content, preserving the option to vote in favor or not of the representation

The Reddit platform changed its interface in the iOS application in order to give more opportunity to the content in of short duration, similar to those of TikTok, joining the trend imposed by that social network, although it continues to focus, in text posts and community-fed content threads.

There is no doubt about the importance and distinction that he is now giving to videos that aspire to be a bit like those of TikTok. These changes have been implemented since they acquired Dubsmash, which has this type of content as its primary focus.

The history of the relationship between Reddit and TikTok has its own peculiar characteristics. At the beginning of 2020, the CEO of Reddit, Steve Huffman, harshly questioned the social network of microvideos, coming to consider it a “parasitic spyware” app. However, that same year he acquired the company “Dubsmash, which is essentially a clone of TikTok.”

Among the current characteristics of the platform is that its operating system, users can view, next to the search bar, a button with which they can open different videos in short format, they can also slide up and see a new video and additionally they have the possibility to share the contents.

However, the most attractive feature of the Reddit social network will continue to be the ability to “vote for or against content.” In addition, you can go directly to the subreddit in which it was published.

This functionality is quite interesting and although it does not guarantee the addition of new users or followers, at least you can keep the current ones.
