Discord chat will enter PlayStation

Sony reached an agreement with the Discord messaging platform that contemplates the integration of this application in the social experience of PlayStation in the next year 2022.
Discord, which has 140 million monthly users, is an especially popular communication platform among the gamer community, although since last year it has separated its image from video games to become a “place to talk.”
Now, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Sony’s video game unit “is working to connect Discord with the gaming and social experience on the PlayStation Network,” the Japanese company’s CEO Jim Ryan announced in a statement.
The integration between the two services will take place in early 2022, and aims for players to be able to communicate easily while playing socially.
Although he has not specified how the integration with the messaging platform will materialize, Ryan said that the objective of both companies is “to bring the experiences of Discord and PlayStation closer to consoles and mobile devices.”
