Bitcoin Chile launches blacklist of crypto scams

According to the organization, a record will be kept of scams and deceptive offers that operate in both the South American country and the region

The Non-Governmental Organization, Bitcoin Chile, announced this Saturday the launching of a blacklist that includes scams and misleading offers with crypto assets that have been made in the South American country in recent years.

The announcement was made during the closing of the fourth edition of CryptoNight, where the founder and president of the organization, Miguel Klagges, assured that each of the scams will be followed up. The CEO also reported that the initiative arises with the intention of stopping the proliferation of scams produced both locally and regionally.

According to Chilean authorities, illicit actions have been perpetrated in the countries as a result of the population’s lack of knowledge about the crypto world, which is why some organizations and mafias take advantage of people’s ignorance and growing interest in these assets to capitalize profits illicitly.

However, during the event the association expressed concern about the structure of those business models based on multilevel strategies or pyramid systems, stating that many of the schemes have been executed under this mechanism.

For them, the members of these organizations “have a reasonable incentive to obtain more income through the search and affiliation of new members, than to obtain it through their own work in that organization.”
