Medellin launches its own token called Rutanio

The digital coin aims to facilitate commercial transaction mechanisms in the Caribbean country

Members of the blockchain ecosystem in Medellin, Colombia, count on their own token, called Rutanio, as part of an initiative inspired by providing “transparency, simplicity and trust, articulated by Ruta N” as reported by the Colombian newspaper Vivir en el pueblo, on February 13th.

The publication details that “in this ecosystem each participant defines the value of their product or service in Rutanio, the token that governs the commercial exchanges that are made there.”

For Policarpo Guerrero, responsible for the international public relations of the project, it is a marketplace that allows the participants of this experiment to exchange services in order to facilitate commercial transaction mechanisms.

The article also clarified that an equivalence is not established between Colombian pesos and Rutanios.

They also advanced in the note that the “Rutanio is proposed as as a means of exchange and a complementary token for the innovation ecosystem articulated by Ruta N. It is a digital asset native to the local innovation ecosystem.”
