Qatar will ban the use of cryptocurrencies

The financial regulator announced this measure shortly after the conflict between the United States and Iran

Qatar’s financial regulator announced the ban on financial services with cryptocurrencies within the nation.

This occurs shortly after the conflict between the United States and Iran began in the case of General Qasem Soleimani.

The Qatar Financial Center (QFC) published a statement that stressed that “digital asset services cannot be carried out on or from the QFC at this time.”

The regulator states that the prohibition within Qatar is considered quite broad and that its scope includes “any object of value that acts as a substitute for the currency, which can be traded or digitally transferred and that can be used for payment or investment purposes.”

Transactions and services with assets include the exchange between cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies; the transfer of digital assets or the exchange between them. In addition to the custody and/or administration of cryptocurrencies or instruments that allow the control of virtual currencies, such as wallets.
