Trump and Maduro confirm contacts

Both leaders are maintaining "high level" communications, apparently through Diosdado Cabello

The presidents of the United States, Donald Trump, and Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, are in “high level” talks in recent months, with no results so far.

In recent days, the American Associated Press and several news portals had revealed contacts by the Trump Administration, through intermediaries, with Diosdado Cabello, president of the National Constituent Assembly.

“We are talking with several representatives of Venezuela. I don’t want to say who, but we are talking to them at a very high level,” they said from the White House office.

A short time later, from the Venezuelan capital they also reported on the talks. “I confirm that for months there have been contacts of senior officials of the United States Government, Donald Trump, and the Bolivarian Government.

President Maduro stressed that his goal is to “Trump really listen to Venezuela, and with respect listen to the truth of the 21st century revolution” and  to be able to “regularize and resolve this conflict” between the two countries.
