United Kingdom and United States seek trade agreement after Brexit

The US and British diplomatic authorities recently expressed their readiness to move forward "as soon as possible" in a trade agreement for when Brexit is consumed

British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab encouraged the European Union (EU) to negotiate a new agreement to prevent the departure of the United Kingdom from being dire.

After meeting with the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, Raab said both sides agreed to the need for quick negotiations on a two-way deal after Brexit leaves London out of the trade pact between the United States and the EU.

Dominic Raab said: “The United States is our largest bilateral trading partner. President Trump has made it clear again that he wants an ambitious free trade agreement with the United Kingdom, so I hope we can achieve it as soon as possible after we leave the EU on October 31st.”

For his part, Pompeo added that Washington supports London’s “sovereign election” to withdraw from the EU, no matter what. “We will be at the door, side by side, ready to sign a new free trade agreement as soon as possible.”

US President Donald Trump said that trade between the two countries could multiply once the United Kingdom leaves the EU and spoke with the British Prime Minister about an agreement a few days after his inauguration last month.
