Measles outbreak keeps the United States on alert

Confirmed cases in New York have led to a state of emergency being declared in the city, and more than 1,000 infections have been added in Pennsylvania. Health authorities and the government have initiated the necessary protocols as well as a campaign to expand vaccination efforts

Measles continues to spread in the United States. In the last week, New York declared a public health emergency due to this outbreak, which began in April, and Pennsylvania had thousands of confirmed cases.

Among the measures taken by the authorities are intensified vaccination campaigns, as well as alerting all personnel involved in prevention and care, such as doctors, emergency room staff, nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, and midwives.

Nursing staff have also been authorized to request measles tests in cases of suspected infection.

Vaccination is being extended to travelers, particularly infants 6 months and older traveling abroad.

Nationwide, more than four thousand cases of measles have been reported. It is important to remember that the vaccine is the primary prevention tool for the entire population.
