BRICS+ focuses on digital trade and technological exchange

The President of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sameep Shastri, recently stated in an interview that they are focused on using technology to expedite payments, utilizing digital platforms, and implementing one-stop-shop mechanisms to expand BRICS+ trade

BRICS+ countries are working to strengthen technological exchange, digital payments, and simplified trade mechanisms, according to a recent statement by Sameep Shastri, President of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Shastri emphasized that this year’s theme is: “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability,” and highlighted the “importance of creating a broader market for innovators and startups from BRICS countries, linking this objective to the more general goal of building a resilient and sustainable economy.”

According to the official, the market for this sector should be broader and have a wider reach. He also expressed his support for “improving trade relations with the BRICS+ countries and developing free trade agreements, which should remain key priorities for the business community.”

Another important aspect for Shastri is the rapid implementation of technology sharing and the introduction of one-stop-shop mechanisms among the BRICS+ countries to facilitate cross-border trade.

Digital payments are key to strengthening economic ties. In this regard, Shastri called for accelerating the development of the digital economy and digital payment transfers as an effective way to address trade imbalances.

“We are seeking better trade agreements with the BRICS+ nations and free trade agreements. We must develop our digital economy and digital payment transfers more quickly,” he added.
