First Spain-China fintech seminar in Madrid

The first Fintech seminar between Spain and China took place recently in Madrid, with the organization of the Institute of Stock Market Studies (IEB) and the Shanghai Association on Internet and Financial Industry (ASIFI).

The event was the meeting point of senior executives and experts in areas such as fintech, innovation, banking systems, banking digitalisation, new technologies, economic and financial growth, applications development, startups and more.

More than 20 participants brought together in Madrid in an open meeting on the development of these issues and trends in Europe and Asia. The General Secretary of ASIFI, Meng Tian, ​​the president of the state bank Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC), Jing Zongquan, as well as senior executives of UnionPay International Iberia, the president of the Spanish Institute of Financial Analyst and the FEF (Foundation of Financial Studies) Jorge Yzaguirre.

Among the events that stood out in the seminar is the 41% growth in the Spanish startup sector during the last 15 months. During this period, 117 new initiatives were launched and, in addition, some 400 companies are expected to be operational during the rest of the year. Undoubtedly, by achieving this, a positive impact would be obtained in the real economy and in the generation of jobs.

Regarding China, the General Secretary of ASIFI, Meng Tian said that “four of the five best fintechs worldwide belong to China, being Ant Financial (belonging to Alibaba), the first and PayPal, the second.”
