Whatsapp will include the expected “memoji”

The instant messaging platform is testing iOS new emoticons that users can customize and then sent as stickers

WhatsApp tests in its iOS application new custom ’emojis’, similar to Apple’s ‘memoji’, and that involve new emoticons that users can customize according to their own features and that can be sent as ‘stickers’, without need of going to the photo gallery.

The new beta version of WhastApp 2.19.90.23 launched by Apple revealed, according to WeBetaInfo, a new function that integrates the ‘memojis’ in the app so that they can be sent directly as if it were an emoticon.

In fact, these ‘stickers’ will appear within the option of sending emoticons, on the left side, next to the rest of the designs. In addition, the most used will also be placed in the section of the most used, as is the case with normal emoticons.

Until now, in order to send them through WhatsApp, it was needed to go to the image gallery and attach them as an image. They could only be sent as a ‘sticker’ from iMessage and Telegram.

This new function is available only in the beta for iOS devices, although not in the official ‘app’, and at the moment it has not made its arrival to any of the stable versions of the messaging service.
