Mayweather was accused of cryptocurrency fraud

The boxer would have made the promotion of an Initial Offer of Currency, in which he hid information

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) accused boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr and popular DJ Khaled for being involved in the fraudulent promotion of initial offers of currencies (ICO) and cryptocurrencies to increase investments.

The accusation is based on the fact that the SEC considers that this class of assets has the characteristics of securities and are thus subject to federal legislation.

In the case of promotion by these public figures, the problem was that both concealed information related to the payments received for that kind of activities.

Mayweather would have received at least $ 300,000 and in the case of the DJ, about $ 50,000. Both celebrities used their promotional means to encourage followers to join CENTRA’s Initial Currency Offer.
